Our Commitment To Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this privacy policy, please email us at privacy@teachers-network.com.
Private vs. Public Information
When you register to use Teachers Network the system collects basic information like your name and email address. This information is private and not made available to other users or advertisers. The site also allows users to publish details about themselves if they wish. This information is found in the user profile. Anything a user wishes to share should be put here and is not subject to this privacy policy. Please be careful to only include information in the user profile you really want to be public.
The rest of this document is about how Teachers Network uses and collects private information.
Information Collection and Use
Teachers Network is an online collaboration and social networking site. It allows members to create individual and collaborative content as well as connecting people through networks of friends and special interest groups. To accomplish this, each member has private information provided at registration time stored with their account.
Teachers Network collects Member provided information such as name and email address to authenticate Members and to send notifications related to Teachers Network services. Member email addresses are protected and are not available to other Members or sold for any reason. Teachers Network also collects additional information including, but not limited to: gender, age, location, personal interests, education and occupation. This information is used for:
- assisting Members to communicate and find other Members with similar interests
- helping Teachers Network to provide better services for its Members
- providing more meaningful and targeted (personalized) advertising (this is how Teachers Network pays for this free service)
Additional profile information may be stored at the Members choice including, but not limited to images, avatars, video clips, instant messaging contacts, personal website address and signatures. This information, if provided by the Member, will be visible in the Member profile to all Teachers Network visitors. Members can change and control how other Members see this information at any time.
Teachers Network also records non-personally identifiable information including, but not limited to access time, IP address, aggregate user data, and browser type. Non-identifying and aggregate information is used to better design our website and to share with advertisers. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
Except as described above, Teachers Network does not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any personal information, unless required by law, to enforce the Teachers Network Terms of Service, or to protect the safety of members of the public and/or Teachers Network members. However, Teachers Network may share non-personally identifiable profile information and aggregate use information with advertisers and other third parties in order to present Members and others with more targeted advertising, products, and services. In such cases, Teachers Network will never disclose information that could personally identify the Member.
Teachers Network reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of Teachers Network or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest.

Third Party Advertising Networks
Teachers Network displays targeted advertisements based on Member profile information and/or page content. This is done so that they can recognize your computer each time they send an advertisement. This allows them to compile information about where you saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This permits them to deliver targeted ads that will be most useful to you. Teachers Network does not provide any personal information to the advertiser when you interact or view a targeted ad.
Teachers Network does not have access to or control over cookies that might be placed by the third-party advertising partners. This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by Teachers Network only, and does not cover the use of cookies by any other party.
